To every devout one whose devotional contributions have supported our work toward acquiring a permanent home for the Northshore Theravada Buddhist Temple - we offer heartfelt thanks, and share with you in the merit (puṇya-anumodanā) of this offering.
මීට වසර දහයකටත් වඩා ඉහතදී ඉතා කුඩා පිරිසකගේ මූලිකත්වයෙන් ආරම්භ කරන්නට යෙදුණු මෙම විහාරස්ථානය, විවිධ බාධක හා අභියෝග මැද්දේ ඒ සියල්ල පරදා නැගී සිටිමින් අද දක්වා ලබා ඇති දියුණුව පිළිබඳ අප සැමට බෙහෙවින් ආඩම්බර විය හැකි ය.
More than ten years ago a small group of devotees planted the seed of this temple. Through obstacles, setbacks, and rising again, we have come a long way - and there is much to be quietly proud of today.

ආරම්භයේ සිටම ස්ථිර නිවහනක් මිලදීගැනීමේ අරමුණ පෙරදැරිව කටයුතු කරන්නට යෙදුණු අතර මේ දක්වා ඒ වෙනුවෙන් බොහෝ කැපකිරීම් කරමින් වෙහෙස මහන්සවී කටයුතු කළ නෝත්ෂෝ ථේරවාද බෞද්ධ භාරකාරත්වයේ තනතුරු දැරූ සියලුම නිලධාරී මහත්ම මහත්මීන්, කමිටු සාමාජික මහත්ම මහත්මීන්, ඇතුලු නන් අයුරින් සහයෝගය දැක්වූ සියලු දෙනාටම පුණ්යානුමෝදනා කරමින් ගව්රවයෙන් සිහිපත් කරමු.
From the very beginning, with the goal of acquiring a permanent home held front-and-centre, every officer who has served on the Northshore Theravada Buddhist Trust, every committee member, and everyone who has supported in other ways - all of you, through years of sacrifice and hard work - we remember today with honour and share in the merit (puṇyānumodanā) of your offering.

Two virtuous and learned monks live with us, offering counsel and Dhamma to people leading busy lives. Even in this distant land, we have the rare blessing of practising as our hearts long for.
විහාරාධිපති තල්පත්වැවේ සද්ධාතිස්ස ස්වාමීන්වහන්සේගේ අවවාද අනුශාසනා පරිදි, මාසික සීල භාවනා වැඩසටහන, ධර්ම දේශනා, විශේෂ භාවනා වැඩසටහන්, ධර්ම සාකච්ඡා සහ වාර්ෂික කඨින චීවර පූජාව ඇතුළු වතාවත් නිරන්තරයෙන් සිදු වෙයි. නේපාලයේ ඛේම ස්වාමීන්වහන්සේගේ මගපෙන්වීම යටතේ ඉතා කැපවීමෙන් කටයුතු කරන ගුරු මණ්ඩලයක් සහ සිසුන් විශාල පිරිසක් දහම් ඉගෙනුම ලබන දහම් පාසලද, විහාරස්ථානයේ සුවිශේෂ සමාජ මෙහෙවරයකි.
Under the guidance of our Chief Incumbent, Most Ven. Talpathwawe Saddhatissa Thero, the temple holds a monthly Sil Bhāvanā programme, Dhamma talks, special meditation retreats, Dhamma discussions, and the annual Katina Cīvara Pooja. Under the guidance of Most Ven. Khema Thero in Nepal, a devoted teaching team and a large group of students keep the Dhamma School alive as one of the temple's most cherished social services.

Today our service is no longer limited to the Northshore area - Sri Lankan families in other parts of the city also come to us for their religious observances and offerings.
ස්ථිර නිවසක් නොතිබූ බැවින් අවස්ථා කිහිපයකදීම විහාරස්ථානය තාවකාලික නවාතැන්පොළවලට රැගෙන යාමට සිදු විය. තැනින් තැනට යාම ආගමික කටයුතු කෙරෙහි මෙන්ම විහාරස්ථානයේ දියුණුව කෙරෙහිද බාධාවක් වී ඇත. ඊට අමතරව, විශාල නිවාස කුලී මුදලක්ද දැරීමට සිදුව තිබේ.
Without a permanent home, our temple has had to move several times over the years. Each move disrupts our practice and our community - and the rent paid out is a steady drain that builds nothing for the future.

Our plan is to buy a home whose monthly loan repayment falls close to - or below - the rent we already pay, while giving the temple a setting that genuinely fits its needs.
විහාරස්ථානය ඉදිරියට පවත්වාගෙන යාමට ඔබ ලබාදෙන මාසික දායකත්වය (Direct Debit) ඉතාමත් වැදගත් වේ. මුදල විශාල හෝ කුඩා වුවද, ඔබේ දායකත්වය විහාරස්ථානයේ උන්නතියට අතිමහත් සහයෝගයකි. තවමත් සම්බන්ධ වී නොමැති අයවලුන්ට ද ශාසනික හදින් යුතුව ආරාධනා කරමු.
A regular monthly contribution - set up as a Direct Debit from your bank - is what carries the temple forward, month after month. Large or small, every standing offering is a profound support. To those who have not yet joined, we extend a heartfelt invitation.

The bank has approved a loan toward our permanent home. That approval is valid for eight weeks. While we must move all the necessary work forward quickly, we emphasise that every contribution received is being stewarded by the Northshore Theravada Buddhist Trust with the utmost responsibility and care.
අපගේ අරමුණු සරල යි - දේපල මිලට ගැනීමට අවශ්ය මුදල පමණයි. භික්ෂුව සරල ජීවිතයක් ගත කරති. කරුණාකර ඔබේ පවුලේ දෛනික අවශ්යතා අපහසු කරගනිමින් පූජා කරන්න එපා - ඔබට පහසු මුදලකින්ම සරණ වන්න. විහාරස්ථානයට පැමිණීම ද, වැඩසටහන් වලට සහාය වීම ද, මෙය වෙනත් අයට දැනුම් දීම ද පින් කර්මයන් ම ය.
Our intentions are modest. Every dollar goes toward the property and the basics of running it - the monks live simply, and there are no plans for extravagance. Please never strain your own household to give. Offer from a place of ease - the merit is the same. Coming to the temple, helping with our programmes, and sharing this page with others are themselves meritorious acts.

What if I can't give right now?
Please don't strain your household to give. Your continued presence at temple programmes, helping at events, sharing this page with family - all of these are themselves meritorious acts. The temple is for you whether you can give now or not.

Can I cancel a recurring pledge?
Yes - open your profile→ Donations, and cancel anytime. For bank-set automatic payments you'll also need to stop the schedule in your own banking app.
What if we don't reach the goal?
Funds remain in the temple property account. We keep searching for a suitable place and continue to grow the deposit.
Will I get a tax receipt?
Yes - NZ donors can generate an IR526 donation receipt from your donation receipts page, covering both card payments and bank transfers. Bank transfers take a couple of days to appear (the treasurer imports the bank statement and reconciles before they show up) - card payments reflect immediately. For pre-April-2025 donations, or anything that doesn't show up after a week, email ntbttreasurer@gmail.com.
